The historic Palio which is contested every year by the terzieri, is a splendid painted tapestry, the work of the Pieve master Antonio Marroni, depicting the archers in the act of paying homage to the field master (competition judge), before the signal to start the competition. On the blue background, the most significant monuments of the city and, below, the symbols of the Terzieri: the medieval castle, the Pozzo del Casalino and the Rocca del Borgo. Inside: above the coat of arms of Città della Pieve with the two Visconti snakes in homage to alliance with the republic of Milan.
